The Permanent Mission of Italy promotes the interaction between academia and the UN Rome-based, with the purpose of facilitating a well-structured collaboration among the Italian university system and the three agencies.
On these bases, in June 2016 the FAO and Università Roma Tre have signed an agreement (exchange of letters) that foresees, in the framework of an already existing collaboration between the two institutions, the exchange of teaching material as well as the addition of teaching modules within Master Degrees programs organized by Roma Tre. Among others, the chosen topics will deal with familiar agriculture, nutrition, micro-finance, cooperatives, gender issues, responsible investments in agriculture, statistics research and voluntary guidelines for a responsible use of land, fishery and forest resources.
Alongside this, in November 2016 the FAO and Università la Sapienza (which further consolidates a long-standing collaboration in the field of food security and sustainable agriculture) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. More in detail, the agreement focuses on four main working areas: 1) statistics and data analysis, 2) food security and food quality within “food systems”, 3) the strengthening of platforms aiming at sharing knowledge (Community of Practice) and good practices on the role of agriculture in facing climate change and, 4) the promotion of advocacy regarding SDGs progresses and responsible investments in agriculture.
Lastly, the Permanent Mission of Italy has been invited to hold a lesson-lecture both during the 1st and 2nd edition of the Master in Food Law organized by LUISS University.
