School Snacks Debut in Lebanon

Today 07 March 2016 marks the first school snack distribution for WFP-Lebanon CO.

The small-scale programme provides 10,000 children, Lebanese and Syrian refugees in 13 public primary schools with a snack (UHT milk, fresh fruit or juice, and salty or sweet baked snack, in rotation).

“All the enrolled students, especially in the afternoon shift* will attend now” said one teacher, which is very much the core objective of the programme: to improve school attendance and enrolment.

The programme is funded by the Italian Development Cooperation and is expected to run till the end of 2016.
